Ross-Ryan

Ross Ryan is one of Australia’s original and most celebrated singer-songwriters. His albums have won Record of the Year and Album of the Year awards and his songs have been recorded by performer’s as diverse as John Farnham and Slim Dusty. His signature tune, I Am Pegasus – still a favourite of Australian radio – was named by ABC TV’s Love is in the Air as an ‘Australian Anthem’. In 1975, Ross released one of his most accomplished and popular recordings; ‘Blue Chevrolet Ballerina’. A story-in-song centered on the date ‘13th of June’. A day now noted fondly by those who annually remember such things and who also happen to like the song. To mark this 40th anniversary – on June 13 Ross, along with multi-instrumentalist Ken Stephenson and bassist Roy Zedras, will be making their debut at The Flying Saucer Club. Expect an intimate, wry, chatty evening featuring material both old and new, plus of course, lots of references to ballerinas and blue cars. A show not to be missed!

Ross Ryan has toured with Roy Orbison, Carol King, Van Morrison, Doctor Hook,  Roberta Flack and The Hollies; written for The Age and The Financial Review; worked as a writer and performer in comedy theatre and children’s television; once had breakfast with Joni Mitchell; ran a recording studio; has a King of Pop trophy and appeared twice on Mr Squiggle.
